The short version

What the show has actually said about roofs

Roofs are the thing homeowners think about least, right up until the week they think about nothing else. Hail comes through, the neighborhood fills with yard signs, and three people knock on your door with three different stories about what your roof needs. Craig and Kevin have been working through that since 2019, and this is where those conversations live.

Start with the money, because that is where most of the trouble is. Texas House Bill 2102 made it an offense for a contractor to advertise or offer to pay, waive, or rebate your insurance deductible. Craig and Kevin took that law apart in Beyond the Summit, and Jeremy Fain of Priority Roofing said the same thing from the contractor's side in Raising the Roof: paying your deductible is required, so a roofer offering to eat it has told you something about how he does business. The other money question is what your policy actually pays. A roof covered at actual cash value settles depreciated rather than replaced, and agents Seth Cox and Kristopher McDaniel walked through that after the California wildfires, along with post bind inspections and carriers pulling out of markets.

Then the roof itself. Jeremy Fain's point worth repeating: premature shingle failure is usually a ventilation problem, not a shingle problem. Justin O'Neil of Fair Claims Roofing covered synthetic underlayment, ice and water shield, and what a Golden Pledge warranty asks of the installer. Conner Mack of Your Friendly Neighborhood Roofer talked seamless gutters, whether guards earn their keep, and how a downspout run is really foundation protection. Mark Jones of Mueller explained Class 4 impact ratings and the insurance discount a metal roof can earn.

Hiring is the third piece, and in Texas it is the hard one, because roofing is not a licensed trade here. That is why the 2025 roofer licensing push got an episode alongside the spray foam bill, House Bill 3314. Sinuhe Montoya of DroneQuote showed how a drone inspection produces three real quotes with no salesman at your kitchen table. Marquis Mitchel of the Houston Area Roofing Contractors made the case for contractor education, Jennifer Lopez of Cromeens Law Firm covered construction liens and the deadlines that decide whether one holds, and Shane Lynch of Storm Guard took the franchise side of the same trust problem.

Every episode below is the whole conversation, newest first. Start wherever your roof is.
